Step by step on how to verify the legitimacy of A1 Certificate
The A1 or PDA1 certificate shows which national Social Security and Labour Law legislations a worker is subject to, that is, that apply to the worker. The A1 or PDA1 certificate is issued by the Social Security institution where the worker habitually resides (the sending country). It is a fundamental document within the context of intra-EU posting or worker mobility within the EU and EEA.
All workers legally employed in country “A” by a TWA that are temporarily seconded or leased to a client (user undertaking) in country “B” must possess an A1 certificate or prove that it has been requested. Mere proof or request is considered satisfactory (or sufficient) for up to 3 months after the workers have been leased by almost all the Labour Inspection Authorities within the EU and EEA.
How to be certain that the A1 Certificate is legitimate?
The Portuguese Social Security has created an online service where it is possible to verify the validity or the authenticity of each individual PDA1 document simply by introducing the verification code that now appears on the last pages of all A1 certificates, as shown in the picture below, you can acess here.
Step by step:
The process is just as easy as it is intuitive:
- Copy the code that appears on the A1 certificate
- Click or visit the following URL.
- Click on the green button that reads “Validar documento” (validate document) identified below
- Paste the verification code provided at the bottom of the last page of the A1 certificate and simply follow the clear instructions that are optionally available in English:
- The result of the query is produced and the user is provided with the options of viewing the document, downloading the document and repeating the process regarding another document. Please see below:
